Today I am semi-retired spending my
time as an educator and advisor to
organizations.

From 2006 – 2011, I served as the
President, Lean Education for the Lean Enterprise Institute in Cambridge, MA.  The non-profit research and educational organization founded by author Jim Womack.  I joined LEI with over 35 years of experience in manufacturing and service companies.

For over 10 years, I ran business units in Parker Hannifin, Eaton and Aeroquip-Vickers Corporation. In the early 1990’s I was responsible for “Lean” implementation across a diverse $2 billion manufacturing company and began my long-term friendship with Jim Womack Author and Founder of LEI.

I’m a “shop rat” having grown up in the family manufacturing business where I worked for over 10 years.  I’m also an entrepreneur having started and run a service business in the early 1980‘s.

I have taught executive education classes for over 20 years on a wide variety of lean manufacturing, strategy development and management topics.  I am currently on the faculty of the University of Michigan’s Integrated Systems & Design Programs, have been a part of Ohio State University’s Masters in Operational Excellence program and regularly teach workshops for the Lean Enterprise Institute.

I have a Bachelors degree in liberal arts and a Masters degree in Organization Development from Bowling Green State University.  With my wife of 46 years, I live in Bowling Green, Ohio.  I teach a little, help build houses with Habitat for Humanity, play with my grandchildren, hit a little white ball along manicured green grass, build furniture and occasionally fish.
